Charlotte Mason Schedule






I promised you a copy of my homeschooling schedule. We are following a Charlotte Mason/Classical style of education.

Mondays---
8-9 Copywork --I am using Spelling Wisdom for copywork and dictation

Morning Basket Here is an example of a morning basket. Ours also includes crosswords, reading comprehension booklets, and math skills books. Sometimes I choose and sometimes it is a freebie.

9-10 Math

10-11 Grammar
Literature
Speech --recitation. A new one is assigned each week. Famous speeches, monologues, poetry, etc.

11-11:30 History Unit

11:30-12:00 Science

Afternoons---Reading aloud while kids are sketching or doing crafts, piano practice, or grab bag (this contains trivial pursuit, scrabble, brain quest, etc)

Tuesdays-----
8-9 Morning Basket

9-10 Math

10-11 Grammar
Literature
Writing

11-11:30 History

11:30-12:00 Science

Wednesdays---------
8-9 Morning Basket

9-10 Math

10-10:15 break

10:30-11:00 Piano Lesson

11:00-12:30 Park/Picnic/Nature Walk

1:00-3:00 Research for current writing assignment, free reading time or cooking/baking

Thursdays-----
8-9 Morning Basket

9-10 Math

10-11 Grammar
Literature
Speech Practice

11-11:30 History

11:30-12:00 Science

Fridays-----
8-9 Bible reading
Dictation Test
Vocabulary Test

9-10 Math

10-10-30 Mapwork

10:30-11:00 Literature

11:00-11:30 Science

11:30-12:00 Art appreciation or application

This is just a framework. We do take a lot of fieldtrips so we don't always stick to the schedule. Some of our favorite field trips...Chabot Science Museum, California Academy of Science, Legion of Honor Art Museum, Tilden Park and Farm, the zoo, Monterey Aquarium, the mission churches, the beach.

I was asked to review this book so I am doing this with my preschooler...will keep you posted.

I'll be curious what you think of 100 Easy Lessons. A ton of my friends who do not have a teaching background swear by it. I think its overkill. I will look forward to hearing your opinions.

My kids attend a classical Christian school...just love it!
